My name is Julie Connolly and I am responsible for developing links for students and teachers with local hospitality and tourism providers.  I aim to help with work experience placements, class study visits and industry insight events.

My very first job was on the front desk in a tourist information office. I then went on to study languages and business at university before starting work with Marks & Spencer in their HR department.  I have always championed good customer service and training and love working in a ‘people industry’.

The hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector in Northern Ireland employs a workforce of 45,200 and over the next few years it is estimated that around 2,700 new workers will be required to satisfy demand. Here in Derry-Londonderry, it is a unique time for the city with 2013 City of Culture fast approaching. It’s a chance for us to get involved in celebration of culture and to welcome visitors from across the world.
